Meet the Illustrator

Jose loves to illustrate children's books. He is an art instructor, music lover, and animal advocate. From the time he was old enough to hold a pencil, he could often be found drawing — a passion that he turned into a lifelong career. Born and educated in Barcelona, Spain, Jose was fortunate early in his career to be trained with legendary artists like Art Leonardi and Terry Lennon and collaborate in projects from some of the most prestigious animation firms, including Walt Disney, Warner Bros., and Universal Pictures. Feeling a need for change, Jose moved to Hong Kong, where he spent seven years working as an art director and animation supervisor. Today, Jose lives in Toronto with his wife and his cat, Teo. He serves as an adjunct faculty member in the animation and illustration programs at several art institutes. When Jose isn’t illustrating, or teaching illustration, he enjoys helping animals at the Humane Society or meandering across the fretboard of his guitar playing blues.
